Evan: 'Damn right' Yankees sweep is sign of things to come
Prior to Opening Day, Evan said it was crucial that the Yankees come out and show that they are a different team than last year, and the opening series was even more important considering the first opponent on tap was the hated Astros.
Four games and four wins later, Evan says that mission was accomplished, and it was proof that these Bombers have staying power.
“You’re damn right it’s a sign of things to come,” Evan said. “The New York Yankees look like what they described themselves as, these ‘dogs.’ They look legit.”
The lineup has taken on a completely different feel with the addition of Juan Soto, but Alex Verdugo has also brought some lefty balance and low strikeout potential, while Anthony Volpe looks more disciplined in his sophomore season. All the while, Aaron Judge has yet to make his presence felt.
For Evan, it feels like it is much more than just one good weekend.
“I wouldn’t say they kicked their ass for four days, but they were relentless for four days,” Evan said. “The Yankees, over these four days, showed us what they can be.”
