With Gerrit Cole’s injury, many have been clamoring for the Yankees to pivot to Trevor Bauer as a way to get a former Cy Young winner on the cheap.

Evan says fans need to let that go, because it’s clear nobody wants to bring on the potential controversy.

“I’m getting so sick and tired of hearing about Trevor Bauer. It’s starting to bother me,” Evan said. “Why do you think no team has signed him? He costs nothing, he’s begging for a job, and everybody can use pitching. So explain to me why…there are 30 owners in Major League Baseball. They are all different politically, they all want to win, and they all need pitching. Why has no one signed him?”

Bauer has campaigned for a big-league comeback since the sexual assault suit against him was dropped (though there is still one active), but Evan says it is clear that no teams want him, so perhaps it should be trusted that there is a reason for that.

“That’s in people’s minds, that Trevor Bauer is being screwed…I don’t know what happened in the numerous cases in which he was accused of crazy stuff,” Evan said. “There is still an active case out there. If you’re taking up Trevor Bauer like he’s some hero that you need to find a job for, I kind of wonder why.”
