Evan found Zack Britton’s comments about the Yankees to be “fascinating,” as the now retired pitcher said that the Yanks don’t seem to be the intimidating entity they once were, and has noticed some players not wanting to come to the Bronx anymore.
Evan’s main takeaway from Britton’s comments? The Yankees have devolved into just another team. A consistently good team, sure, but not the top-tier operation they used to be.
“The New York Yankees have not been the best team in the American League in a decade,” Evan said. “They have not had a season when they were the clear best team in the league in a decade. I think you have to go back to 2012 or 2011…when they’ve been good the last five years, they’ve been fine…they’ve never been the best.
“When that happens, they just become another team…I think the reality of it is that the Yankees are just any other team.”
