A fan at Yankee Stadium got roughed up more than Angels starter Andrew Heaney on Tuesday night.
In the sixth inning of the Yanks win over the Angels, long after Heaney had been knocked out after allowing seven runs in three innings, a fan decided to leap over the wall down the third base line and run onto the outfield, but managed to make it maybe two steps into fair territory before he was slammed to the ground by a security guard.
The fan clearly didn’t have much speed and fit the Yankee mold in terms of questionable running decisions, and was taken down just seconds after first touching down on the field.
According to TMZ, the fan was detained for five hours, roughly five hours more than the amount of time he actually spent on the field, and was hit with a citation, but not permanently banned from the park.
The Yankees won 11-5, hanging on for a win despite the absence of one unintelligent fan for the later innings.
