Yankee fans were not happy with the Yankees on the field, and not happy off of it, as Carlos Rodon blew a kiss to an angry fan after giving up four runs in the first two innings, and Anthony Rizzo was seen laughing in the dugout shortly after.
The day prior, some fans took exception to Gleyber Torres playing around with Angels infielder Eduardo Escobar before the game, preferring to see the team focused on turning things around during a dreadful stretch that has them out of a playoff spot.
C-Mac says people just need to lighten up, especially the Yankees, so why not let them try and relieve some of the weight they are carrying around during this cold streak?
“I think this team is tight as a drum,” C-Mac said. “I think it’s all weighing on them. I think they need more laughing. Call me crazy.
“What are they supposed to do, sit there and look like their dog died all day long?”
C-Mac says the clubhouse could seemingly use a little lightening up nowadays, and the Yankees themselves may have acknowledged that with recent changes that have been made.
“I think this is part of the reason [Sean] Casey got hired,” C-Mac said. “They needed a change inside the room, because it feels stale, tired, old, and tense. I don’t mind them laughing a little bit. I don’t mean laughing the whole game…but someone says something funny, they can’t laugh for five seconds?
“I don’t care that they’re laughing. I care that they can’t get a freaking hit. I don’t care [Rodon] is blowing a kiss. I care that he’s getting his ass kicked.”
So, fans should spend less time worrying about the Yankees being too happy or having too much fun during an abysmal stretch. Maybe that’s what they need.
“We get hung up on the nonsense of it all,” C-Mac said. “We get hung up on Boone’s press conferences. Well, now he said the team stinks. Do you think that’ll work? Do you have confidence that they’re gonna beat Kansas City now, because Boone said the they stunk, or does it not matter what he says in the press conference? He can say whatever he wants, it won’t change how the team plays.”
