The Yankees picked up a much-needed win on Wednesday night thanks to Jose Trevino's walk-off single in extras, but it was almost another disastrous loss after Aaron Boone called on Clay Holmes.
Just two nights after Boone yanked a cruising Domingo German in the ninth inning, only for Holmes to turn a 2-0 lead into a 3-2 loss, Boone called on the struggling reliever again with the game tied in the ninth, and Holmes promptly allowed two hits, as the Guardians took a 3-2 lead.
After Oscar Gonzalez's single dropped in no-man's land out in shallow left center, resulting in Harrison Bader being taken out of the game following a collision with new left fielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, the fans in the Bronx voiced their frustration with their manager after a second call on Holmes in three nights led to disaster.

Fans chanted "Fire Boone" as rain came down at Yankee Stadium, with the crowd making their frustration known about Boone's latest decision that backfired.
After the game, Boone said he had "zero hesitation" going to Holmes in the ninth, noting that the righty has been burned by some bad BABIP luck lately, like Gonzalez's go-ahead single.
