Gerrit Cole to miss at least 1-2 months with visit to surgeon looming: Report

The Yankees have yet to announce an update on Gerrit Cole, but Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Yankee ace will be out "at least 1-2 months" and will fly to Los Angeles to meet with surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Per Heyman, multiple doctors, including ElAttrache, have viewed Cole's "preliminary film" and have not detected a tear in his UCL, but there is enough concern that ElAttrache has recommended Cole come in for an in-person visit.

Given the current outlook, the Yankees hope that the reigning AL Cy Young winner could be back in May or early June.

Cole expressed concern after not bouncing back in between throwing during the spring like normal, which led to an MRI on his elbow. While it doesn't' seem like the Yanks are out of the woods just yet, this initial report does suggest that the team and Cole have avoided the worst-case scenario.
