Gerrit Cole threw 110 pitches in Sunday’s game four to keep the Yankees’ season alive, his second big-time performance of the series.
He also told Aaron Boone on Monday that if he is needed out of the bullpen in a decisive game five, he is ready to go.
Still, that doesn’t mean Boone would be eager to use his ace out of the pen less than 24 hours after eclipsing 100 pitches.
“Yeah, I’d be hesitant,” Boone said. “He’s already told me he’s available, but I’d probably be a little hesitant.
“But you never know where the day takes you.”
