The Yankees have won their first four series of the season, and now head back to the Bronx to take on the Twins for four games, a team that the Bombers have used as their own personal punching bag for the better part of two decades.
With that in mind, Gio says it’s “beef-up” time for the Yankees, a chance to beat up on some teams that often struggle in New York, and an opportunity to really pad their record to close out the first month of the season.
“The Minnesota Twins always get beaten up by the Yankees,” Gio said. “That’s just what happens. You get them at home, you smack them around, then you got the Angels coming into town and smack them around, and that’s what happens. The Yankees are gonna beef up.
“It’s beef-up time for the Yankees, man. Let’s go. This is what they do.”
Boomer says it will be important for the Yanks to do just that, especially when considering the historic start the division rival Rays are off to out of the gate, as Tampa has yet to lose a game heading into Thursday’s action.
“You gotta make some hay,” Boomer said. “You’re trailing a team that is undefeated right now. But there’s a long way to go.”
