Chris Lopresti filled in for Jerry in the update chair on Friday’s Boomer and Gio, and he was promptly turned down after offering to play audio from Marcus Stroman’s introductory press conference on Thursday.
“No,” Gio said. “That guy sucks.”
Gio hasn’t been shy in his criticism of Stroman, and the Yankees for signing him. He called the righty a “slug” while declaring Brian Cashman would be “absolutely stupid” to sign Stroman, who has feuded with fans, and Cashman himself, on social media in the past.
Boomer is curious to see how Stroman fares in the Bronx, but if he struggles, it could get ugly.
“If he has a bad year, and the Yankee fans start piling on, good luck,” Boomer said.
