Gio spent much of his Thursday afternoon listening to the Yankees series finale against the Guardians on WFAN, and as he heard Aaron Judge hit another home run and Gerrit Cole shut down Cleveland, he couldn’t help but start to sway towards Boomer’s side, as his co-host has been saying that the Bombers are World Series material.
“It’s starting to smell like October around these parts,” Gio said. “If the Yankees, in this world of Major League Baseball where everybody stinks, can’t at least make it to the World Series, it would be a massive failure.”
The Yankees currently hold a 1.5 game lead over the Orioles for first place in the AL East, and could finish the season with the best record in the American League. Boomer has maintained his belief that this team can finally end the franchise’s pennant drought, and isn’t surprised to see his co-host coming around on that idea.
“This is a bomb squad. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it,” Boomer said. “It’s great seeing these majestic home runs. They’re amazing. I’m giddy about it.”
