Last month, Gio declared the Yankees the most boring team in baseball as the Bombers struggled on offense, failed to beat down on lowly teams like the Orioles and Tigers, and were seemingly helpless with runners in scoring position.

Just a few short weeks later, as the Yanks own the best record in the league after a walk-off home run by Aaron Judge on Tuesday night, Gio is here to offer his apologies.

“I have to apologize to the New York Yankees,” Gio said on Wednesday’s show. “We sat here and we hammered the Yankees for being boring, and they were at that point. And they were boring for most of last year. I should have given them more of a chance this year.”

Since Gio’s boring comments last month, the Yanks have enjoyed and 11-game winning streak, seen three walk-off wins, two via the home run, and have boasted one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. After many worried that this year’s group would be too similar to the 2021 Yankees, this team is developing a different feel, and Gio is ready to take back his previous declaration.

“Maybe they turn into a boring baseball team as this season goes on, I don’t know,” Gio said. “But right now, in a game like last night, they were the opposite of boring for a lot of reasons. Coming back, the issues they had with up and in on guys and people getting thrown out…big home runs.”
