The Yankees are entering a crucial offseason where many are expecting the team to make big moves after once again proving that they are not up to the same level as the Astros in the ALCS, and Gio says those kind of moves have to be made.
“Basically, it comes down to what is happening in this organization right now,” Gio said. “And right now, they are miles away from the Astros.
“If Brian Cashman stays here, what is he going to do differently to be able to beat the Astros? Because what he’s doing now isn’t working.”
If the Yankees are serious about their self-imposed “World Series or bust” rally cry, then changes need to be made, because they only continue to prove that their current operation isn’t nearly good enough to beat the best in the league.
“I know they had injuries, but they got swept,” Gio said. “It’s not like they lost in seven by the skin of their teeth. And also, the Guardians took them to five games. They’re not a championship caliber team right now. They are far away from that.”
