As reports link the Yankees to Juan Soto and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Gio believes the Bombers are set to have a major offseason that turns back the clock to the days of the Evil Empire.
“I really believe the Yankees are gonna have a big offseason,” Gio said. “The Brian Cashman we saw at the GM Meetings, the Brian Cashman that was fighting back, I think he’s gonna make some really big moves, and I think Hal Steinbrenner is gonna give him the leeway that he hasn’t in the last couple years.
“I’d be very surprised if Juan Soto wasn’t a Yankee, and then an extension immediately. I think they’re gonna potentially go all in and outbid everybody for Yamamoto. I think those two guys are gonna be here with the Yankees.”
It would take a substantial amount of assets, and money, to bring both stars to the Bronx, but Gio believes Steinbrenner is motivated enough to go all in and erase the bad taste from last season.
