Hal Steinbrenner says the Yankees recently completed their “check-your-egos-at-the-door” meetings to determine what changes need to be made within the organization, though he hinted that those changes may not be drastic.
“I think, at times, it got a little dicey, but it was respectful the entire time,” Steinbrenner said Wednesday at Sportico’s Invest in Sports conference, via Sportico’s Scott Soshnick. “There wasn’t one stone we left unturned, from the health of the team, what they’re doing in the clubhouse, clubhouse culture, what we do in the weight room, analytics, pro scouting, biomechanics…it was a great three days.
“It was a very honest conversation. Many more to come in the months to come, but we’re gonna be making some changes. Some may be more subtle than others, but I think we certainly have uncovered things we can do better.”
Steinbrenner, known for his patience, could be lacking in that department after the Yankees posted their worst record in 31 years, and the rest of the offseason will reveal just how motivated the Yanks owner is to get things turned around and end the Bombers’ 14-year title drought.
