The Yankees couldn’t capitalize on a chance to win a crucial series with the Astros on Sunday, leaving 15 runners on base in a 9-7 loss.

So, the Bombers settled for a split and lost another game in the playoff race, but Harrison Bader kept an optimistic approach afterward.

“For the first time in a long time, I thought that was a really good game and a really good battle,” Bader said. “There wasn’t a single time during that game, regardless of what was happening on the other side, that we felt like we were out of it…I think this is actually a really big momentum boost for us moving forward.

“I thought there was really good synergy in the dugout about what our plan and what we’re seeing. We were focusing on that to take really good at-bats.”

The Yanks were 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position, while Carlos Rodon left the game with a hamstring injury after another rough outing. Still, Bader liked what he saw from the lineup, and isn’t sweating the current deficit in the standings.

“No concern at all,” Bader said. “One game at a time. We keep playing this brand of baseball, we’re gonna be just fine.”
