Now that the Yankees have bolstered their roster with Juan Soto, Marcus Stroman, and Alex Verdugo, a caller asked Keith if Brian Cashman has redeemed himself after bad trades and signings (along with a lot of injuries) led to last season’s 82-80 disaster.
“Nah, hell no,” Keith laughed. “We haven’t played a game yet.
“We gotta see what the season is like. If they struggle…if it’s bad, if it’s less than what we’re hoping for or expecting, they’ll do another Fire Cashman night in September.”
Many believe the Yankees should still be in the hunt for another top starting pitcher, but others believe grabbing one of the best bats available on the market in Soto is enough to forgive Cashman for past mistakes or dormancy. Keith says let’s see how the team plays first.
“What he done is, he has shown us is that he’s heard everybody,” Keith said. “He’s awake doing his job now. He’s not resting on his laurels thinking he can make a rinky dink trade thinking they’re the Yankees and can go out there and intimidate everybody.”
