Craig Carton was out during Friday’s Carton and Roberts show, but the replacements made sure to provide some popcorn-worthy entertainment.
Evan was joined by Shaun Morash, who expressed his distrust in the Yankees to address their glaring issues despite recently signing Carlos Rodon. Evan asked C-Mac to chime in given his Yankee fandom, and, well, things took off from there.
“I am now concerned that this Yankee team, and this organization with Brian Cashman, is out of the circle of trust that they would handle the real problems with this team,” Morash said. “Adding another starting pitcher was like No. 4 on the list of problems with this team.”
C-Mac countered that there aren’t that many problems on a team that reached the ALCS just last season, even though they were clearly overmatched against the eventual champion Astros.
“They just strengthened their rotation, and the idea of major, major problems on a team that won 99 games and was worse than once team in Major League Baseball, they need to tweak things, but I don’t agree with ‘major, major problems,’” C-Mac said.
Then, Morash went after Cashman’s job performance as the longest-tenured GM in baseball.
“This organization has lost trust with me and real fans,” Morash said. “We don’t settle for 95 wins and the playoffs every year! Can we win a freaking World Series?!
“A tree stump can be the GM with their funds! The GM is overrated and has a life pass.”
C-Mac wasn’t having that level of Cashman slander, not after he helped bring back Aaron Judge and sign Rodon.
“Brian Cashman in 25 years has had this team play in 16 games that didn’t matter. Sixteen games!” C-Mac said. “What are they? The only team they can count on in this whole city! God forbid I don’t hate, despite, and can’t stand the GM of the one team in this damn city that gives you a winning team year in and year out. Sorry!”
Morash continued to note the Yankees’ title drought, and noted that the Giants have won a title for the city since the Yanks, while C-Mac fired back with potential alternatives, and painted what the road has looked like for Big Blue since that Super Bowl win.
“You want to win the World Series in 2011 and then be the worst team in the league for seven years, then go be a Red Sox fan,” C-Mac said.
Once Morash said he would rather be a Red Sox fan, given the titles they’ve won since 2004, C-Mac blew a fuse.
“You want to be the organization that trades Aaron Judge for Jeter Downs, who they had to designate for assignment??” C-Mac said. “Get lost!”
“They kicked our ass in the Wild Card Game a year ago!” Morash fired back.
And so it continued, with Loogy stepping in to throw a log on the fire every so often. The debate really picks up steam at about the 10:45 mark in the player above. Enjoy!
