Jerry & Gio: Will Yankee Stadium be half empty in September?

As the Yankees flounder and fall deeper into last place, many fans have wondered what it will take for ownership to make major changes moving forward.

One conclusion is that, once the seats are empty in the Bronx and the team isn’t drawing 40,000 fans a night, Hal Steinbrenner will take stronger consideration into a legit overhaul.

Jerry believes, if nothing changes the rest of the season, that potential outcome might become a reality.

“You might get to the point in September where you have a half-empty Yankee Stadium,” Jerry said. “I don’t remember seeing that since the early 90s or late 80s.”

Jerry and Gio agree that the decisions made the rest of the way in 2023, when it comes to either bringing up the kids or keeping status quo, or potentially shutting down Aaron Judge, will all be with potential attendance impact in mind.

“That business makes a lot of money,” Jerry said. “The business of the Yankees is a multi-billion dollar business. I wonder if those decisions will be made based on keeping people in the ballpark.”
