Jerry Recco: Why can't this be 'the year' for Yankees?

The Yankees slugged their way to a series win over the lowly Rockies on Sunday afternoon, riding back-to-back-to-back home runs from Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton.

After watching the lineup in full force on Sunday, Jerry Recco says it feels like it can finally be the year for the Bombers, especially if they are able to carry this mighty power into the playoffs, which has been an issue for this team in years past.

“They can just flat-out mash,” Jerry said. “The question will be, can they do it in October?

“There’s not a team...that would scare me in terms of the Yankees. The Phillies, I’m not really buying it. They’ve been average for about two months or so. If I look at the National League in terms of if they got to the World Series...and then you look at the American League...other than [the Astros], to me, this is the Yankees’ year. And if it’s not this year, then when?”

Chris Lopresti has been in awe watching Judge and Soto together like everyone else, but he has been burned by the Bombers in October too many times since 2017 to be convinced that offensive production like we saw on Sunday will carry over into the postseason against top pitching.

“It’s the Rockies. The Rockies are God awful,” C-Lo said. “It’s fun. The regular season, as long as it is, you have to enjoy it...but we’ve seen this from the Yankees. I know it’s a different construction. Juan Soto wasn’t here...but I’ve got to see it in the big moments against the better pitching staffs.”
