Jerry rips Yankees 'analytical crap' as Hal Steinbrenner mulls hiring outside company

Hal Steinbrenner told the Associated Press on Thursday that the team is looking into hiring an outside company to examine the organization’s use of analytics and their baseball operations, which is just another step in the wrong direction in the eyes of Jerry.

Instead of investing more time in improving analytics, how about bringing in some proven baseball minds?

“Didn’t the Yankees hire Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean to help with scouting and player personnel? Enough with this analytical crap,” Jerry said. “Get me some baseball people, let them do their job, and let’s see where it falls.

“This analytical stuff is just nuts.”

Jerry doesn’t think the Yankees need a complete makeover, or another dive into their analytical process. Instead, they just need to get healthy, make some competent moves in the winter, and come back ready to return to contention in 2024.

“The season is a collective failure. There is no arguing that point at all,” Jerry said. “Sometimes, injuries do happen, and seasons go off the rails. The Yankees have been a perennial winning team. I know they haven’t won a World Series since 2009, but they win 90 games every year. This season, to me, was the exception, not the rule. The season went sideways. Rizzo wasn’t right with the head, Judge missed time, Stanton has been brutal…just that alone. Rodon doesn’t pitch for much of the season. If they’re healthy and play a full season, are you gonna tell me this is the position the Yankees would be in? I don’t. I think they’re a good team.”
