Jerry: Yankees can still win title without Gerrit Cole, as Rangers showed last year

As Yankee fans await news on Gerrit Cole, Jerry is not buying into the idea that the entire season hangs in the balance.

Jerry says the Yanks should have enough in the rotation to get by while riding the power of a revamped lineup, even if their ace is on the shelf.

“They’re paying Carlos Rodon a ton of money, they brought Marcus Stroman in, Nestor Cortes should be serviceable and good enough,” Jerry said. “They have guys that can go out and pitch, and they have a lineup that should score six runs a game.

“This should not end their season by any stretch of the imagination after what we just saw in Arlington.”

The Rangers lost Jacob deGrom last season to Tommy John surgery, and rode Jordan Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi to a World Series win. So, there’s no reason the Yanks can’t do the same, not to mention there is still a real chance that Cole isn’t done for the year.

“If you’re a Yankee fan, just hope he should be back by mid summer,” Jerry said, “And you should be fine.”
