Juan Soto's MRI reveals inflammation in left forearm, slugger considered day-to-day

Breathe a sigh of relief, everyone – Juan Soto’s left forearm discomfort is just inflammation.

Soto was not listed in the Yankees’ lineup for Friday’s series opener with the Dodgers but WAS listed on the bench, giving an initial sigh if relief, before manager Aaron Boone gave the official good news shortly after.

“In the grand scheme of things, we got some good news,” Boone said, revealing that an MRI taken Friday revealed just inflammation in that forearm, and a check of his elbow for extra precaution came back clean as well.

Soto was removed from Thursday’s win over the Twins after the lengthy mid-game rain delay due to the discomfort, and Boone said after the game it had been bothering Soto ‘for a little while’ and he would get imaging to see what was up.

What’s up is just some general soreness, a relief to the Yankees, Soto, and the fans.

“He’s a pretty cool customer, as you’ve seen. For him in his mind, he wanted to know what was going on there, because that soreness was just lingering with him each and every day,” Boone said.

Soto is currently considered day-to-day, as he will take medicine to treat the inflammation but isn’t expected to go on the IL or need a cortisone (or other) injection. Boone believes he could be available this weekend, perhaps even Friday night if needed.
