Juan Soto's custom cleats for Yankees home opener are peak New York
Juan Soto was rocking a pair of cleats on Friday that were very fitting for his first game in the Bronx as a member of the Yankees.
The custom cleats had nods to New York City all over them, including a taxi cab sign that read “Soto,” a view of Times Square, a Broadway Playbill sign, Yankee pinstripes, and of course, “Soto loves NY” written along the bottom.
On the other shoe, the New York City skyline was the feature, along with signs of the subway stop at 161st Street/Yankee Stadium.
Created by Stadium Custom Kicks, the cleats also had LED lights in the laces that light up blue and flash in the dark.
Soto has embraced all of the New York pageantry in his Bronx debut, taking a bow to the Bleacher Creatures in right field for his first roll call, and received a raucous applause when he was announced during roster introductions before Friday’s home opener at Yankee Stadium.
