Justin Wilson's MRI reveals 'nothing actionable,' Yankees will continue anti-inflammatory treatment

Justin Wilson’s left shoulder tightness is, hopefully, simply tightness.

The Yankees released the following statement on Wilson’s condition Wednesday, roughly 24 hours after he underwent an MRI to diagnose the source of his left shoulder tightness that forced him out of Monday night’s game:

Upon review of the MRI taken yesterday as well as comparing it to a pre-signing MRI there was nothing actionable from those images. LHP Justin Wilson will be treated for his symptom of tightness of his left shoulder and has been given an oral anti-inflammatory medication. He will continue to receive treatment over the next several days before resuming a throwing program.

Wilson threw 20 pitches in Monday’s game, but left after summoning manager Aaron Boone and trainer Steve Donohue from the dugout after his final pitch. He immediately left the game and was sent for an MRI Tuesday.

However, as the Yankees said he will receive treatment for several days before resuming a throwing program, it seems unlikely that he will be available for Opening Day – which is eight days away, on April 1 – and he could possibly start the season on the injured list.
