Keith has to talk sense into Yankee fans believing playoffs are still within reach

The Yankees and their squad of youngsters won again on Tuesday, trimming their substantial Wild Card deficit to 7.5 games with less than a month left to play.

By most accounts, the Yanks are still dead in terms of their playoff chances, but Keith was fielding calls from fans who aren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet, believing the injection of youth could be the spark the team needs to go on a run and make the postseason.

Keith tried to bring those fans back to reality.

“I’m glad, I’m happy for the Yankee fans who just wanted to be excited watching Yankee baseball…this weekend was exciting,” Keith said. “Call me up and sell me on it. Call me up and do the math, tell me who they’re gonna beat, who is gonna lose so your New York Yankees can waltz into the playoffs. Nah, I’m good. I told you I was off the roller coaster…you guys can ride the roller coaster the rest of the way. I’ll watch.

“Just try to enjoy the rest of the ride, watch these kids play, watch Gerrit Cole on his quest for the Cy Young.”

Keith is enjoying the hype around Jasson Dominguez and his unforgettable performance in Houston, but he also is holding onto reality, in that the team’s deficit in the standings is too much to overcome. So, it’s just about time to shift focus to football.

“We have turned the page,” Keith said. “The season is over, we waved the white flag, let’s just see what the kids can do and compete.”
