Keith McPherson 'cool' with Yankees offseason so far, but sees 'sneaky' deal coming

Keith McPherson is content with the Yankees’ offseason so far, only because he believes the offseason is not yet a finished product.

“I think there’s more to be done,” Keith said during Wednesday night’s show. “If you’ve watched Brian Cashman, he likes to do these sneaky deals and trades that you don’t know are coming. That’s how they got Harrison Bader.

“They need a left fielder…we’d like to see them trade Aaron Hicks out of here, Josh Donaldson out of here. Some of us want to see them trade Gleyber Torres, but I don’t see that happening.”

Brian Cashman has stated that he is comfortable beginning the 2023 season with Hicks and Donaldson as starters, which would likely put some fright into Yankee fans given Hicks and Donaldson’s dreadful offensive outputs in 2022, but Keith isn’t hitting any panic buttons. There are still moves to be made, even if some of those moves don’t happen until July before the trade deadline. As for now, the Yankees have put together a successful offseason.

“I’m cool with the Yankees right now,” Keith said. “They had to re-sign Judge, they did that. They had an opportunity to add another ace to the staff so it wasn’t all on Gerrit Cole, and they did that. They brought back some insurance for the bullpen in Tommy Kahnle. They brought back Rizzo…who is right under [Judge] as a leader on this team.”
