Keith sounds off on 'comedy of errors' by Brian Cashman after caller defends his job performance

A caller defended Brian Cashman’s job performance to Keith on Thursday night, but Keith has grown tired of the GM seemingly having immunity from ownership despite all of his recent flops.

“I appreciate someone coming in with the other side…but it’s his job to know who is good and not good,” Keith said. “You can’t absolve the guy when there’s a ton of mistakes. You can’t go back to Carl Pavano. We’re talking about right now. You’re responsible for this team…why is Luis Severino still being run out there? why did Anthony Rizzo play concussed for two months?

“There is a ton of nonsense that the Yankees rolled out this year. It’s on Brian Cashman that Josh Donaldson was on this team. He had no business being on the New York Yankees. Didn’t need him. Not with that number.”

Cashman was highly praised for orchestrating a rebuild seemingly overnight in 2016, but he has since failed to complement the core from 2017, and has yet to get further in the playoffs ever since. That is worthy of criticism.

“They’ve been in a win-now window since they got to game seven of the ALCS ahead of schedule in 2017, then you started doing too much…it’s been a comedy of errors since,” Keith said. “The Joey Gallo trade. Running Aaron Hicks out there. Carlos Rodon is the latest one.

“Before you guys call up to tell me Brian Cashman is a good GM, and this isn’t an easy job to do, well, he gets paid pretty well to do it, and he seems pretty comfortable in it, so much so that this team, at the deadline, needed help in multiple places, and he passed.”
