Keith: Time to 'refresh you information' on Gleyber Torres
Gleyber Torres poked a two-run double down the right field line in Wednesday’s win over the Twins, and quietly, since May 14, is batting .280 with three home runs and a very respectable .825 OPS.
After a brutal start to the season at the plate, Torres seems to be showing signs of breaking out, and Keith says the often-criticized second baseman should get his flowers.
“Refresh your information on Gleyber Torres,” Keith said. “‘Oh, Gleyber’s a bum, he’s not hitting. What’s the use?’”
“Obviously I’m upset with Gleyber and his glove, but you live to fight another day, and hope he cleans it up. He’s been hitting lower in the lineup, and he’s coming along now. That’s great. That’s great for us.”
Torres has been one of the very few areas of the Yankees roster that fans have been able to criticize this year, but Torres is looking better at the plate, making it even easier for fans to enjoy the ride that has them alongside the Phillies as the teams with the best record in baseball.
“Yankee fans, we are blessed with this team right now,” Keith said. “It is a product of what we had to go through last year. Let’s live in it tonight. Let’s enjoy another win.”
