Just minutes after Keith finished his initial celebration of the reported Juan Soto trade, calls came in from Mets fans, starting with Charlie in Queens.
“I can just see from some of the calls, they’re tight tonight,” Keith said. “They’re not gonna sleep right tonight.”
Sure enough, Charlie immediately ripped the trade, and declared that the Yankees were still far from being a contender despite adding Soto, and one major acquisition isn’t enough for the Bombers.
“Last year is over. They were one guy short,” Keith said. “If Judge doesn’t go down, it’s a different season, right?”
Charlie countered by asking who is supposed to pitch for the Yanks, and Keith didn’t even bother mentioning last year’s Cy Young winner in Gerrit Cole or 2022 All-Star Nestor Cortes.
“Not Luis Severino,” Keith joked before cutting up the call. “Gone. Do better. Come on Mets fans. You’re welcome here. You can dry your eyes.
“You got Luis Severino. You have the richest owner in the sport. He went to Japan to get Yamamoto. You’ll be alright.
“There’s fear there. I can hear it in Charlie’s voice…let them hate. They’re big mad.”
