Keith: Twins are 'friends' of the Yankees, always counted on to 'lay down and not compete'

The Yankees once again beat the Twins on Tuesday night, cruising to a 5-1 victory to improve their record against Minnesota to a ridiculous 121-44 since 2002, including the postseason.

The Yanks have now won four straight against the Twins, and to start Tuesday night’s show, Keith thanked Minnesota for always providing a breezy series for the Bronx Bombers.

“Just continue to lay down and not compete,” Keith said, “This is a team that won 10 games in a row this year…when they come to Yankee Stadium, they have nothing. When they face the Yankees, they are owned. They’re our friends.

“You can always depend on them.”

Luis Gil certainly made the Twins look like a doormat on Tuesday, allowing just one hit over six innings while striking out six to drop his season ERA to 1.82, furthering his case to be the potential starting pitcher in this year’s All-Star Game.

“This guy is looking like the best pitcher in baseball,” Keith said. “The best pitcher in the American League.”
