Keith: Was just a matter of time until Aaron Judge figured it out

Aaron Judge had a monster night at the plate on Wednesday, finishing 4-for-4 with a towering home run and three doubles in another Yankee win, which helped raise his season OPS to .926.

Suddenly, after a dreadful start, Judge has pulled his numbers back to his norm, and Keith says it is obvious that any concerns about his health can be put to rest.

“Aaron Judge is healthy. Aaron Judge is not hurt. He’s fine,” Keith said. “Aaron Judge is not being overshadowed by Juan Soto. Aaron Judge is still the captain of your New York Yankees. It’s Aaron Judge’s team. It’s not Juan Soto’s team. Aaron Judge is still one of the most dominant hitters in the league.

“I knew him, James Rowson, and anyone else in the Yankees video department were going to go get in the lab and figure it out. I knew it wasn’t going to be a season-long slump...but there’s some PTSD there.”

Keith had his own concerns about Judge’s health given his benching in spring training and last year’s toe injury that Judge himself admitted would require constant maintenance for likely the rest of his career. But, not surprisingly, those concerns have been quieted with Judge’s torrid stretch at the plate.

“I didn’t know if it was his hand placement, his feet, his eyes, his toe, his oblique. I just knew that he didn’t look like the player we’ve been used to seeing,” Keith said. “I knew he didn’t look like the guy we’ve been watching for the past seven years.

“It was just a matter of time until one of the best hitters we’ve ever seen figured it out.”
