Keith: Who else in American League is scary to these Yankees?
Keith understands that with a start to the season like the Yankees are having right now, comes the accompanied debate over whether or not they can play at this level when it really matters in October.
But the ride of a 162-game season should be enjoyed, but the obsession to erase 15 years of falling short can take away from the thrill of watching Aaron Judge and Juan Soto in the same lineup, or Luis Gil dominate on the mound, or Anthony Volpe rise to an All-Star level.
“We cannot fast-forward our minds, folks,” Keith said. “But I know we’re gonna do it every night. There’s this pessimistic energy because of the 15-year drought.”
But, if you wanted to fast-forward those minds, Keith says this Yankee team looks as equipped as any to truly make it a special season.
“This is beginning to feel a lot like a team that can challenge,” Keith said. “And as I look across the landscape of the American League, I cannot wait to see the Baltimore Orioles. I don’t fear a single team in the Central. The Mariners, I was trying to tell you guys when we were playing them. Look how those first two games went…and what did the Yankees do? Wake up, punch them in the mouths, and split the series.
“Am I supposed to fear the Texas Rangers? No team repeats anymore, and they’re under .500.”
