Keith: Brian Cashman 'better have his best trade deadline in a long time' this year
The Yankees dropped another game in Baltimore as the offense couldn’t get more than two runs in a 4-2 loss, and Keith has concerns that the struggles to generate runs isn’t going away.
Specifically Aaron Judge, who went 0-for-3 with a strikeout to drop his season batting average to .207 on the year.
“What if Judge never gets back?” Keith said. “What if this is the Judge we get all year?”
Many believed the Yankee bats were back on track after scoring 15 runs in consecutive games against the Brewers over the weekend, but Keith wasn’t ready to buy that coming into Camden Yards.
“What they did in Milwaukee was cool, but I knew,” Keith said. “I’m starting to know this team too well.”
The Yankees have areas that need improving, whether it be more bats or more strikeout stuff in the bullpen. Keith says it is already shaping up to be a critical trade deadline for Brian Cashman, who hasn’t stepped up in the last two years in that regard.
“Brian Cashman, regardless of the performance of these guys, better have his best trade deadline in a long time,” Gio said.
