Keith: Yankee lineup isn't changing, so current bats 'have to produce'

The Yankee lineup finally showed signs of breaking out on Wednesday night, as Aaron Judge homered, Anthony Volpe picked up an RBI triple, and Juan Soto crushed a home run in a win over the lowly A’s.

The seven-run showing came on the heels of the Yanks getting blanked on Tuesday save for a four-run first, and being shut out twice in three days before that. There are still concerns about the lineup, but Keith says critics of the Yankee bats are wasting their breath, as no changes are coming until likely the trade deadline.

“The lineup is the lineup. DJ [LeMahieu] is not coming back. Not for a little while,” Keith said. “Jasson Dominguez, you’re not even hearing updates on. Don’t even think about that. This bench, there’s no one you’d rather see sit in this lineup in favor of someone on the bench.”

LeMahieu suffered a setback just as his rehab assignment was getting underway, and is now considered week to week with his nagging foot injury. Dominguez was never expected to be a factor until June at the earliest, and Keith doesn’t see anyone in the lineup relinquishing their spot for the likes of Trent Grisham or Jon Berti. So, what you see is what you get, at least for now.

“This lineup is the lineup,” Keith said. “You have to produce.”
