Keith is admittedly not an analytics or advanced metrics guy when it comes to baseball, so as spring training begins, he doesn’t want to hear about numbers or projections when it comes to the 2024 Yankees.
He simply wants to see this team have a much different look than the one that took the field last year.
“I want to see these guys have the right vibe and energy and look about them,” Keith said. “There were too many times last year where I went to the ballpark or watched on TV, and they were dead. They were lifeless. They had no swag, no energy. they weren’t gonna beat anybody…I want to see them step across that foul line and bring it and look like the New York Yankees.
“The Yankees have gone through an identity crisis in this last decade and a half. They’re still living on the Core Four and their history. No. This new group needs to walk out there and act like they’re trying to win the World Series, can win the World Series, and are better than their opponents.”
