Juan Soto told Jon Heyman of the New York Post that he would love to see former Padres teammate Blake Snell on the Yankees, but Keith says the new Yankee superstar shouldn’t hold his breath.
“I just think the ship has sailed,” Keith said. “I don’t think the Yankees are signing him for the money that he’s looking for. The Yankees are ready to roll with what they have.
“The Clayton Beeters, Will Warrens, Chase Hamptons, when one of their guys inevitably goes down, that’s how they will respond.”
While Snell would be a massive upgrade in a rotation littered with question marks, Keith says the starting five as is already is one that is getting less credit than it deserves.
“The little we’ve seen out of Nestor, Rodon, and Schmidt is encouraging,” Keith said. “They need to stay healthy and build on that…but I think they have a better rotation than they’re getting credit for. It’s just the paranoid, pessimistic Yankee fan like ‘We need another guy! Weren’t we supposed to get Corbin Burnes?’ Not with Spencer Jones in the deal.”
