Keith's reaction to Yankees trade deadline: 'That's it?'

The trade deadline has come and gone, and Keith can’t but feel a little underwhelmed with what the Yankees did to bolster their roster in what is supposed to be an all-in season.

“I’m looking around after the trade deadline like, ‘that’s it?’” Keith said. “You have Aaron Judge in his prime, and that’s it? You have Juan Soto, and that’s it?

“How do you give up what it takes to go all in and be hell-bent on being a champion with eyes also on the following years? Well, I expect Juan Soto to be here for the following years after this trade deadline. They didn’t give up too much at this trade deadline, but they also didn’t get too much.”

The Yankees added Jazz Chisholm to their lineup, a move that has paid major dividends already, and brought some swing-and-miss stuff to the bullpen in the form of Mark Leiter Jr. and Enyel De Los Santos. But the big names, like the Jack Flahertys, went elsewhere, and while Keith is disappointed, he isn’t surprised, as he has come to expect the Yanks to shy away from deadline moves that will up the payroll, dating back to passing on Justin Verlander in 2017.

“Stop getting your hopes up,” Keith said. “They operate differently than how you want them to.”
