Miguel Andujar is the latest Yankee to be bitten by the injury bug.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed prior to Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays that Andujar is dealing with some soreness in his right hand and wrist, and will see a specialist to determine what’s going on.
“He’s dealing with a sore hand and wrist, and he’s actually going to see a hand specialist tomorrow, along with (Robinson) Chirinos, to really get an idea of what’s going on,” Boone said. “That’s why we’ve held him back.”
According to the skipper, Andujar first felt a little something in that wrist while playing Winter Ball, but it calmed down this spring before popping back up last week.
“It calmed down a bit, but then he noticed it in the last game he played, it got a little more sore again, so we’ve been treating it here the last several days,” Boone said.
Andujar, who last played Wednesday, is 2-for-15 this spring as he competes for the final bench spot on the team. Chirinos, meanwhile, was diagnosed with a fractured wrist after being hit by a pitch earlier this week.
