Morash: Carlos Rodon having bigger redemption story than any other Yankee in 2024

Carlos Rodon briefly floated with a no-hitter on Wednesday night, and finished with six strong, two-run innings and nine strikeouts to drop his season ERA to 3.08.

Morash, who spent much of last season booing and ripping Rodon, says the lefty is putting together a brilliant redemption season that even he applauds.

“Carlos Rodon is having the biggest redemption stories of any of these Yankees, and that includes Giancarlo Stanton,” Morash said. “He might be destined to also be a participant in the All-Star Game…he’s been that good.”

Rodon was awful in his debut season in pinstripes, missing half the season to injury before posting an ERA of nearly 7.00. He blew kisses to Yankee fans after bombing on the road, and shunned pitching coach Matt Blake when Blake came to the mound to try and settle down an ineffective Rodon. There were plenty of reasons to boo the $162 million man in 2023, but now, Morash says Rodon has drastically, and quickly, changed his image in the Bronx.

“As the season has gone on, you start to realize that Carlos Rodon is having a redemption story,” Morash said. “Put yourself where you were a year ago with Carlos Rodon. You thought it was a waste of a signing by Cashman, making way too much money for what he does, and injury history/injury prone…and think about where you are a year later.

“I don’t hate this guy. I don’t feel like booing this guy. I don’t care who he blows kisses to.”
