Morash: Jazz Chisholm trade felt like 'Brian Cashman of old'

The Yankees brought in Jazz Chisholm from the Marlins over the weekend in a move that Morash says felt like a big splash that Brian Cashman used to make before fans began to sour on the longtime GM.

“He acted like the old Yankees Brian Cashman. He made the Yankees feel like the old Yankees,” Morash said. “Suddenly, the Yankees had their biggest win of the season on the day of their biggest in-season trade probably since they got Anthony Rizzo.

“This has to be the turning point weekend of the Yankees season.”

Chisholm was an All-Star in 2022 in a season that was cut short due to injury, and has been a league-average hitter ever since. But his speed and defensive versatility still presents value, and Morash believes Cashman has more moves coming before Tuesday evening’s trade deadline.

“Give Brian Cashman a ton of credit. He acted like the Yankees GM of old,” Morash said. “I don’t think you trade for Jazz Chisholm Jr. and then you’re done. I think there are more moves to be made.”
