When the Yankees signed Juan Soto, Shaun Morash pleaded with fans to not boo the superstar outfielder if he got off to a slow start.
He isn’t asking for the same with Marcus Stroman, but he does have a plea to the fanbase when it comes to their newest pitcher.
“Go to your phones right now….Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, whatever your favorite social media platforms are,” Morash said. “I want you to find Marcus Stroman on those social media platforms, and I want you - not him - to hit the block button.
“Block Marcus Stroman. Marcus Stroman, the one thing above any other quality start he might have has proven, is that he cannot help himself. He searches his name and his Twitter handle, and if he is in his head after a bad start or two, and Yankee fans, we like to crush our own players - see Giancarlo Stanton - he will begin fighting with you…I’m just speaking from his past.”
Morash wants the Yanks to get as much out of Stroman as possible, and he is convinced that will require as little social media criticism as possible, so it’s best for fans to block Stroman before he does.
“Stroman has thrown a lot of these nuclear bombs out there,” Morash said. “We need to, as Yankee fans, hit the block button. Don’t let Marcus Stroman see any of your criticisms. By doing that, I think we limit the chance of Marcus Stroman becoming a distraction.”
