Jasson Dominguez is one of the most hyped Yankees prospects in recent memory, and just turned 18 years old earlier this month. But regardless of his age, Nick Swisher expects to see the switch-hitting “Martian” making noise in Bronx soon enough.

“He’s coming, baby,” Swisher said to Moose & Maggie on Thursday. “He’s a special talent, there’s no doubt about that. But at the end of the day, I want to see it on the field. I want to see it happen.”

Dominguez signed with the Yankees for $5.1 million at just 16 years old, and has already drawn comparisons to Mickey Mantle and Mike Trout. No pressure, right? Despite those already lofty expectations, Swisher, a special adviser with the Yanks, expects Dominguez to live up to the hype.

“I love his energy, his vibe his work ethic, everything about him is a lot of fun to watch,” Swisher said. “Especially looking at something you know is going to be very successful in the future.”

Still, drawing comparisons to a Hall of Famer and a future Hall of Famer who is widely regarded as the best active player in all of baseball is astronomically high praise for a teenager who has yet to play a single game in the Yankees’ system.
It will be tough to live up to the seemingly unfair expectations put before him, and Swisher hopes to see Dominguez continue to climb and eventually prove himself to be a star in the majors.

“You have to remember that’s the type of world we live in now,” Swisher said of the expectations surrounding Dominguez. “You hype guys up and you just hope that they’re able to handle that stuff. Obviously he’s going to have to handle a lot of things that other players aren’t going to have to go through. You hope you can keep him on the straight and narrow, because his talent is out of this world, and it’s going to be excited for all of us to watch him play.”
