The only offense from the Yankees in Tuesday night’s loss was a home run from Gleyber Torres, as the second baseman continues to be one of the only sources of offense from an otherwise lifeless lineup.
Keith says it’s the perfect audition for prospective teams that may want to trade for the veteran infielder.
“He’s hitting right now,” Keith said. “Perfect time to trade him. His value is high. Let’s see what we can get from him.”
Torres has arguably been the best Yankees hitter this season outside of the injured Aaron Judge, posting a .264 batting average with a .763 OPS. Over his last 16 games, Torres is hitting .343 with an .876 OPS, and while Keith says it’s a perfect time to max out on Torres’ value, he still believes the Yanks will look to add at the deadline, not trade pieces away.
“You know the Yankees are gonna be buyers,” Keith said. “They aren’t gonna be sellers. Why? They’re gonna get Aaron Judge back and Nestor Cortes back. ‘Don’t quit on us.’”
