Report: Yankees agree to a deal with RHP Marcus Stroman

It appears Marcus Stroman is coming home, as Jeff Passan reported late Thursday night that the Yankees have agreed to a deal with the right-hander.

Per multiple reports, the deal is two years with a vesting option for 2026, and guarantees Stroman $37 million. That is slightly lower AAV than the $21 million Stroman opted out of in what would have been the final year of his deal with the Cubs for 2024.

Nothing has been said officially as of yet, although Stroman did post photos of himself on an IG Story on his Instagram wearing a Yankees hoodie as a child, as well as mocked up in the pinstripes.

Stroman, 32, was an All-Star for the Cubs last season, posting a 3.95 ERA in 136 2/3 innings over 27 appearances. The righty, a native of Medford, has a career 3.65 ERA in nine MLB seasons, including a 3.21 mark in parts of two seasons with the Mets in 2019 and 2021.

Last week, Bob Nightengale reported that Stroman had told the Yankees he was interested but the team had declined to offer a deal, but that developed over about 72 hours to the point that Jon Morosi reported Thursday morning that the Yankees were the favorite to land Stroman.

This is a developing story.
