Major League Baseball is in the midst of a lockout, but the Yankees reportedly made a move on Friday, re-signing Rob Brantly to a minor league deal.
The move, reported by Joel Sherman of the New York Post, will likely result in the 32-year-old receiving an invite to spring training.
Brantly was mainly with Triple-A Scranton last season, and in his brief six games with the Yanks, went 3-for-20 with one extra-base hit. Down in Triple-A, he hit .289 with nine home runs in 264 plate appearances.
In Brantly, the Yankees likely have their third catcher for the 40-man roster, behind Gary Sanchez and Kyle Higashioka.
