After watching Tuesday’s introductory press conference, Sal can’t be more certain that Juan Soto is heading to free agency, and has no attachment to his new team.
“It was actually fun for me, as a Met fan, watching that Zoom press conference watching Juan Soto being introduced as a Yankee,” Sal said. “What I heard from Juan Soto is what I expected to be the case…this is a one-year deal. He is going to test the open market, and I don’t think he’s gonna be lured by the short porch, by the pinstripes, or anything the Yankees do. He’s here on a mission to win a World Series this year, and that’s it. After this year, anything is possible, and I think he’s leaving.”
Sal says Yankee fans need to accept the reality that they traded for a rental, and Soto made that clear when speaking with reporters on Tuesday.
“How about playing with Aaron Judge in the outfield?” Sal said. “He said ‘Yeah, I’ll enjoy it while I’m there.’”
