Blake Snell reportedly has interest in signing with the Yankees, according to SNY’s Andy Martino, but Sal says the Bombers should stay far away from the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner.
The Mets should do the same, for that matter.
“Blake Snell, he’s like a douche,” Sal said. “He will be a disaster in New York. He’s a five-inning pitcher that’s gonna get overpaid…I don’t think he’s got the guts to handle New York. He’ll be worse than [Carlos] Rodon.
He may be effective, which will help them, but once things go sideways…I don’t think he’s got it in him to respond.
“The Yankees can’t bite on that one. I know you need another arm, but you gotta go get [Jordan] Montgomery.”
Montgomery has already proven an ability to handle New York thanks to his time with the Yankees, while Snell has proven himself as a postseason pitcher than can handle the AL East from his time with the Rays. But Sal is convinced the lefty wouldn’t be able to handle the bright lights of the big city.
“He wants no smoke,” Sal said. “No chance of New York.”
