Sal sick of fans drooling over 'Spencer Jones Maas,' unproven prospects: 'Means nothing to me'

BT spent much of Monday’s show beaming about the prospect of Spencer Jones after wowing baseball fans with his mammoth home run over the weekend, but Sal is tired of hearing about Yankee fans drooling over prospects, especially when the focus should be on an all-in season.

“Spencer Jones Maas…he hasn’t done anything!” Sal said. “Oh, he hit a 470-foot home run in spring training. What do you want, a medal?

“I heard the same thing about all these guys. Jesus Montero is supposed to be the next Mike Piazza…you’ll be saying the same thing about Spencer Jones Maas in another month or so.”

Sal, noting the failure of the Baby Bombers outside of Aaron Judge, says Yankee fans, and baseball fans in general, get too wrapped up in unproven prospects, when there is very little to guarantee that the profile and production will lead to success in the major leagues.

“Why are we talking about him? The Yankees are supposed to be going to win a World Series. Spencer Jones isn’t even part of the plan,” Sal said. “I don’t give a crap what he does in the minors or spring training. That means nothing to me.”
