Carlos Rodon came into his second spring training start with a decreased fastball velocity, and while the Yankees didn’t seem too concerned, Sal believes the lefty’s outing was just another reason to doubt that the $162 million man will earn his paycheck in 2024.
“I want to see it,” Sal said. “Right now, the facts are, Rodon sucked last year, Rodon sucks so far this spring. I believed at the end of last year that he was done. Actually, I believed in the middle of last year that he wasn’t any good.”
Rodon was a disaster in 2023, and while many believe he is a candidate to bounce back in a big way given his history before last season, Sal believes there is a higher likelihood that 2024 is a repeat performance.
“I don’t think he’s any good,” Sal said. “I say that Rodon is a major question mark.”
